Our meetings consist of three parts: Table Topics, Pathway Speeches, and Evaluations.
These sections are the core of every meeting and are described below.

You can download our typical meeting agenda here.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet weekly for one to two hours.
  • Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice communication & leadership skills in front of a group.
  • Members learn how to plan & conduct meetings.
  • Members learn how to give impromptu speeches by presenting quick, non-rehearsed speeches on posed questions.
  • Members learn how to present prepared speeches based on projects from manuals in Toastmasters' Pathways programs.
  • Members receive constructive evaluations to point out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.

Table Topics

Individuals have the opportunity to speak for 1-2 minutes on a topic assigned by the topics master. The benefit of table topics is that members learn to think (and speak!) on their feet. Guests may be invited to participate, and may accept or decline.

Pathway Speeches

Members are scheduled to give formal speeches on topics of their own choosing. Each speaker is working on accomplishing specific objectives, as outlined in Toastmasters Pathway curriculum. Each speech focuses on a particular component of effective speaking and is usually 5-7 minutes in length.

Evaluations

Each speaker will receive an oral and written evaluation of their speech. The evaluation provides constructive feedback. The evaluator practices the skills of listening and giving a 2-3 minute speech.
