Career Builders Toastmasters is pleased to welcome in our new executive board for the first term of 2021! A Club officer serves a very important role within Toastmasters International. They provide leadership, support, and foster a positive and encouraging environment for members and guests.
On December 21, 2020, Career Builders commenced with a new board induction, with Area 14 Southern Division Director, Landon, swearing in the Club Officers through the online virtual platform, Zoom!
The club also presented well deserved accolades to Jana, outgoing Club President. Through Jana's leadership, the club continued to excel and inspire new members to join amidst a pandemic. The Career Builders club presented her with a well deserved award for her outstanding leadership.
Our new club President for 2021 will be Alberto who looks forward to continuing the success of the club. Here's a brief blurb of how Toastmasters has helped Alberto:
“I was terrified of Public Speaking, the anxiety would start from the night before, my voice and hands would start shaking, I would go almost blank. When I was approached to apply for my current position, I realized the amount of public speaking involved and I was very close to passing the opportunity. Suddenly, I remembered a friend that was attending Toastmasters meetings and I decided to try it, and I loved it. I joined and served as Sergeant of Arms, and continued volunteering for various functionary roles."

I am beyond pleased to announce that Career Builders Toastmasters has achieved the Toastmasters Presidents Distinguished award for the ninth consecutive year. This recognition represents many hours of participation, hard work, and above all, consistency among our members. To earn the award our club met the minimum requirements in membership renewals and achieved at least nine out of ten of the club educational requirements.
For the foreseeable future, our club is holding virtual meetings online. I am so proud that our members have continued to work on their educational goals during this challenging time and give thoughtful and well-rehearsed presentations.
Continue your great work, members!

We are continuing to monitor the guidance of federal and state officials and health agencies about the situation and act accordingly.
Toastmasters Leadership Institute is truly a highlight and an amazing kick-off for the year. It is filled with opportunities for networking, training and very exciting educational sessions. Not to mention there are refreshments provided throughout the day and a chance to choose which sessions you would like to attend.
At the start of the day, The Career Builders Club was recognized at the TLI conference. Our President Jana received the award and we have a new sash for having “100% Club Officers trained for the 2019 – 2020 term - District 5 “Be Brilliant” The TLI training is a wonderful time for members from different clubs to meet, get to know each other and shares ideas.
Some of the big highlights from the day are getting to listen to and be inspired by the Toastmasters Accredited speakers. And this year was no exception. Paul Artale was the Keynote Speaker – He provided an incredible start to the day with his message entitled Hit Hard: 3 Must-Have Mindsets to Breakthrough Challenges. Paul provided insight and humor as he described his journey in achieving his dream of playing college football for the University of Toronto. His message encouraged that; leveraging our strengths and identifying opportunities are just two of the amazing mindsets for achieving the Goals that you have set for yourself.
Chris Nielson is a fellow Toastmaster and Improv Guru. A definite standout session that was not to be missed. His mission is to send positive ripples into the world with fun, actionable, transformations ideas, strategies, and skills. It was amazing to see how learning some of the improv games and techniques can assist in day to day life as well as toastmasters. Our club loves to incorporate improve whenever possible and we usually incorporate it at a few events during the year.
These are just a few of the highlights, be sure to join us at the next Toastmasters Leadership Institute!
